How to Access a Lockbox for a Showing

When arriving at a property for a scheduled showing, you may need to access the key from a lockbox located at the property. Please follow the steps below carefully to ensure the key is handled properly and returned securely.

Step 1: Locate the Lockbox

When you arrive at the property, locate the lockbox. It may be attached to the front door, gate, railing, or another secure location near the entrance.

Step 2: Enter the Lockbox Code

Enter the lockbox code provided to you for the showing. Make sure the numbers are entered correctly.

Once the correct code is entered, open the lockbox by sliding the top latch to the right, and remove the key.  

Step 3: Leave the Lockbox Open During the Showing

After removing the key, please leave the lockbox open while you complete your showing.

Do not close or lock the lockbox immediately after removing the key. Keeping the lockbox open will make it easier to return the key at the end of the showing and will help avoid accidentally locking the key outside of the box.

Step 4: Complete the Showing

Use the key to access the property and complete your showing. Please be respectful of the property while inside.

Before leaving, make sure:

• All lights are turned off;
• All doors and windows are secured;
• Do not use restrooms at any showing; Units do not have running water. 
• Any gates or common area access points are closed;
• The property is left in the same condition as when you arrived.

Step 5: Return the Key to the Lockbox

Once the showing is complete, return the key to the lockbox.

After the key has been placed back inside, close the lockbox securely and scramble the code if applicable.

Step 6: Confirm the Lockbox Is Locked

Before leaving the property, gently pull on the lockbox to confirm it is fully closed and locked.

This final step is very important to protect the property and ensure the key remains secure for future showings.

Important Reminder

Please do not take the key with you after the showing. The key must be returned to the lockbox immediately after the showing is complete.

The lockbox should remain open only while you are actively conducting the showing. Once the showing is finished, the key must be returned and the lockbox must be fully locked before you leave the property.
